This is the tale of the life here-to-fore of the Squire Briteblade. As a task set forth by the valorous Knight Sir Murtano I make these statements to the court scribe.

I was born in the year of our Lord 3704, in a small holding in the township of Schenectady, in a small holding in what was formerly known as York. My dam and sire were both sworn to the local Lord. My mother was chatelaine of the lord’s manor and my father the head arms man and Captain of his guard. The third child with two sisters older than made me the center of my father’s attention. Even at a young age, with wooden sword at my side, I dreamed of becoming a knight. As I grew older I began to take on size and my father began his teaching the use of arms. He was responsible for training his lord’s arms men and when I reached a point I joined them in their training. As a young man my strength grew and I excelled in the use of all manner of arms. The sword was my first love both Claymore and one hand sword. Soon I was considered the best with sword in the duchy. When I reached my majority my father and I had a long talk. The lord of the manner would be more then happy to have me in his service but Knighthood was not in reach so I foreswore taking arms in his name. My father said to win the spurs of the knight I must distinguish myself before man and king alike. So with sad heart on the eve of my twenty-third year I set forth to win my fame.
I left my home and traveled as the road wound. I met many fine people and where able I offer solace and help. My wandering soon found me in the city of Devon; I was sheltering at a local inn having just arrived from duty as a caravan guard (A man must eat). Upon entering the common room I was drawn by the sound of two men laughing and jesting. I seated my self and noticed that one was obviously a magic user and one a man of arms. I could tell by his dress that he was a man of means, his sword and dress was of the finest quality.
As the night wore on others came and went to their table, it was after the supper hour when I noticed the warrior looking in my direction, he raised his glass to me and I returned the gesture. He walked over and sat down and introduced himself as Hawk, he told me his companion was a wizard named Aladarq. He said they were in the city seeing a boon companion on his way home and were in need of a replacement and I looked like a likely candidate. We talked till the wee hours of the morn with the result being I joined them in their travels.
Over the next few years the adventures were many and the lessons learned, mostly the hard way were unlimited. The fist of many was as we traveled, I came to learn that they had jus returned from ridding a town of a band of mercenaries. We traveled down a road far from town when the cry went up “DRAGON” well everyone scattered into the woods alongside the road, everyone but Aladarq, here he stood calmly in the back of our wagon watching the dragon turn and head back. Straight for the wagon it came, it was then I realized it was a red dragon and feared for or friends life. We called to him to run but to no avail. Closer the dragon loomed and as he reached a certain point you could see him inhale in preparation of spewing his fire. It was at that moment that Aladarq raised the staff he carried and whispered words I could not understand and a light of the purest whit exited the staff and entered the dragon’s mouth. The effect was startling; the dragon abruptly lost flight and became tons of flying meat hurtling at the wagon. Thankfully it missed and crashed just forward of the wagon, bounced a couple times and came to rest. We were all wide eyed, except Aladarq. I learned a valuable lesson that day that when facing a formidable enemy that you must remain calm.
We proceeded on to a castle that Aladarq had learned contained a fellow wizard that had been trapped and was in need of deliverance. I won’t bore you with tales of all the fighting that ensued, we battles evil skeletons, a gazing eye, and of the many this that happened the one that stands out in my mind was when I unknowingly discovered the wizards familiar. We had just cleared an area of evil minions when we entered the master sleeping chamber, and in the ensuing search I discovered a frightened kitten under the bed. I coaxed it out and took time petting it and it seemed to enjoy the attention. My friends asked what I was going to do with it, I said take him with me and placed in the top of my pack. He circled around till he got comfortable and went to sleep. We continued through the castle till we entered the room containing the Gazing eye, it shot bolts of lightning as a weapon. We worked out our strategy and would come at it through several doors, striking then retreating. Just as I was to enter the room I was thrown to my back by a huge weight, and something large and black charged into the room attacking the eye. So swift and ferocious was the attack that the eye could not keep up. While it was concentrating on this foe we entered and after several hard fought minutes, dispatched the eye. It turned out my Kitty was a weir beast. With the eye dead we finished the sweep through the castle and found the wizard ensorcelled. Fortunately Aladarq was able to release the caster and he showered us with gifts for gaining his release.
After several months of rest, or fame spread far and wide and we were approached by farmers and the mayor of a town in a nearby township, they asked our help. A large group of evil knights and their henchmen had block the road in and out of town demanding heavy fees for passage. Thus far the King had not sent help to remove them. We thought this might give us a chance to serve good and help the folks of the town as well. We set out immediately for the location and arrived to find the road held by two knights in black resplendent armor and several henchmen. Here I learned one of manly lessons in humility. With Aladarq to handle the henchmen, Hawk and I challenged the knights who swiftly responded. We met blade to blade and after several rounds I realized this was no run of the mill Knight but a master of the sword. On we fought both giving and taking wounds till after a furious onslaught I was able to kill my opponent but took a mortal wound in the process. Hawk was more fortunate, with help from Aladarq he managed to dispatch his foe. They rushed me to a nearby abbey and they were able to convince the Abbot of my worth and he was able to resurrect me and as I stand before you that is a feeling like none other. With the evil knights dead and their henchmen dispersed the town was able to got back to life as usual. We traveled to the town of Qeynos and it was there that Hawk received word his father was dying and he was needed at home. With heavy heart we made our farewells Aladarq going to study in the casters hall, and I once again adrift on my own. It was then that I met Sir Vinmana and many knights we spent trading tales of our exploits. He I told of my wish to become a Knight and he bid me go with him to his chapter house and introduced me to Sir Murtano, and Sir Airron. After long discussions and an seeming endless round of questions they agreed to let me join their chapter as a citizen. Many months past and Sir Murtano was kind enough to accept me as his squire. And here I stand at his side, ready to do his bidding in hopes of one day being knighted.
Given this day under my hand
