Hail brothers and sisters,
In light of recent events in the realms, and the ever-growing
need for good roleplaying in Neverwinter I felt compelled to
write a letter to you all, my fellow Knights. Please take the
time to read it.
It can be difficult sometimes to play a "good" character. These
characters inherently have certain rules, and etiquette they must
follow - They can't do anything, at any time, as many of the
evils do. Playing a Knight of KORT can be even more difficult,
for we are held to a high standard, even among other "good"
characters. With this in mind, I offer a few Roleplaying tips...
;>
I must start with saying this...Each of us are a part of the
larger entity known as KORT. Our actions reflect on the entire
organization, either good or bad. It is a large responsibility,
but with great satisfaction. So, everything has an
effect...little goes unnoticed when dealing with others socially
in the realm. Keep this in mind... ;>
The Code is a great source of ideas and information for
Roleplaying your Knight (Have you read your code? :> ). I
will quote a few passages from it....
"What seperated the Knight, in the ideal, from the rest was
following rules of etiquette...you are to carry yourself with
pride, maintain self-control, accept bad manners with grace."
"You are to behave with dignity and not have emotional
outbursts...Slander should be avoided...Getting into an
engagement of insults is beneath a Knight's dignity".
"Valor: Having unyielding courage in the face of danger."
"Honor: Conducting oneself with integrity, regardless of
circumstance...You would rather die than compromise your
principles, betraying your faith, or abandoning a protected
charge..."
Ok, you get the idea...you should each have a copy of the Code
(Speak up if you don't!), so you can look into these things
further...
So, the point of all this? There is more to being a Knight of
KORT than having a "good" alignment. The way a Knight conducts
him/herself defines that person and their organization...We are
supposed to be the "cream of the crop" as far as goodness in the
realm goes, so we must act like it.
The value of good roleplaying is great. After all, this is not
simply an adventure game...at its roots it is indeed a role
playing game. Playing your Knight well will add flavor to the
guild, indeed to the entire realm...and will be a lot of fun
along the way! ;>
Take care,
Morngrym Verigost
Bard of KORT
;>
P.S. I tried to include everyone in this mailing. If I left anyone out, please forward it to them (as well as your respected squires...). Thanks! ;D
