Abrianna's Squire Quest #1

Lady Fawnree had given me the quest of taking an ale to six of the knights....

I started my journey in Willow Wood, stopping to chat with all of the merchants I came to. Everyone in the community was nice, and I didn't get bit by any of the animals as I tried to get a closer look. I didn't have any luck in Willow Wood so I continued on to Baubbleshire.

I felt very close to nature as I walked over the bridges in Baubbleshire. I sat down under a tree that was near the stream and had a chat with one of the ladies that was near. I noticed an apple tree on the otherside of the bridge so I went over there and picked one for Lady Fawnree's horse. Spirit liked the apple I gave him the other day,so I knew he'd be happy to get this one. I continued searching for some ale, but still I didn't have any luck.

I then decided to try Nettleville Hovel. Once there I started to look around to see if there were any taverns there and didn't see any. I wanted to get to know the people in the city so I chatted with a few there. I never found any ale.

Since it seemed ale was hard to get I decided to see if I could make some, there is nothing better than to serve the knights with handmade ale. I made my way back toward my hometown of Willow Wood to chat with some of the others in my crafting society. I took a look in my recipe book and saw that I didn't have a recipe for ale but I did have quite a few recipes for beer. I went to the broker to see if he had ale I could purchase, but he had everything else and not what I was looking for.

I noticed Sir Kenweth was still in the area so I asked him what the difference was between beer and ale. He went on to explain that the color and the taste of the two were different, but many consider them the same. I went on by explaining to him why I had asked, that I had received my first Squire Quest, needed to locate some ale so I could complete it, but was having a difficult time. He then asked me if I was familiar with allakhazam and I had replied I didn't. He then advised me as a Knight of the round table to get to know allakhazam and the quests, and that as proof of doing so was to do the quest called "Angelia's Correspondence". I immediately left the area and went to research allakhazam. I was surprised at the knowledge that was there. Not only did I look up the quest he had asked for but searched a few other things as well. After researching I went back to the area and thanked Sir Kenweth for the information he had given me and I told him that I hoped one day I am able to help him as he had helped me. I went and talked to Angelia, who is located in Starcrest Commune, and she had asked me to take a letter to her sister. I went to her sister and gave her the letter. She asked me to return to Angelia, so I did. When I reported back to Angelia she thanked me for the errand I had done for her, and in return gave me 5 warm ales. I still needed more ales than the ale she has given me so I went to see the broker again in Willow Wood out of hopes that he would now have some, which he indeed did, so I purchased 5 more so I could have enough to finish the task that was given to me by Lady Fawnree.

I asked Sir Kenweth where he was in the area. He was busy and didn't respond, so I went looking for him. I found Sir Kenweth in Qeynos Harbor standing near a vendor. We both had a chuckle because as he replied I had found him. I bowed to him and explained I had a gift for him, I gave him an ale, and he thanked me. The two of us started chatting about the deeds we've done for the people of Qeynos and what yet needed to be done. We parted shortly after.

I continued on my exploring and talking to those that I came across and helping those in need. I noticed Sir Airon not to far from me and asked if we could meet. When I caught up with him in Greystone Yard I bowed to him, and let him know I had a gift for him. When I tried giving him the ale he attempted to give me something in return and I declined. I then attempted to give him the ale again, to which he accepted. We started talking about the squiring process and I asked him to clarify a few things. After a brief chat we had bid our farewells.

I wasn't very far from Sir Murtano's house after parting my ways with Sir Airon so I went into his Apartment and left him his ale. Along with the ale was a note that read"

" Dear Sir Murtano,

I left you this ale as a gift. I knew it would be difficult to give it to you in person since you are a very busy man and I knew you'd enjoy it after coming home from a long day of work. If there is anything you need, not only now but in the future as well, please let me know...

Sincerely,

Squire Abrianna"

I decided to leave Nettleville Hovell and head into Antonica to see if there was anything needed to be done there, and sure enough there was. I had a long run in with some Darkpaw Youths. I got defeated a few times, but I didn't let it stop me. Sir Brekin popped in out of the blue so I met up with him to introduce myself and to give him an ale. He started telling me how he's been a part of the round table for years and had just recently came back. I asked him a few questions after being intruiged with what he had to say, and he quickly answered me. Before saying our goodbyes I told him that if he ever needed a hand to let me know.

I still wasn't done with the Darkpaw Youths and I was asked to do a Civil Service for Qeynos so I went into the fields of Antonica to get rid of the vermin and the Darkpaws that were there. As I was putting my finishing touches on a snake Lady Fawnree greeted me, so I met up with her. I gave her an ale and we had a toast to my progress. She made the comment on how she needed to locate a beetle in Antonica. I knew from experience they were a little tough for me and I knew that her experience was lower, which ment she'd have a rough time with them so I accompanied her. In no time we located a beetle and together we got what she needed. Lady Fawnree said she was hungry and needed to get something to eat so we bid our farewells once I knew she was out of harms way.

Later on that evening when I entered Qeynos again I seen Sir Paddi in the area and asked him if we could meet up, and he agreed. As soon as he seen me he started dancing and we immediately laughed at how his legs had moved. I told him I had a gift for him and when I went to give it to him he declined because he had too much things already on him and he stated he had to run to the bank. He ran off to the bank as I was hot on his trail. When he was thru doing what needed to be done I gave him an ale and he thanked me. I gave him a dance and he chuckled. The two of us stood there and talked for about a hour about quests, crafting, and harvesting. During our conversation Sir Brekin was asking us questions in reguards to tradeskills and we helped him the best we could. I then left to go get something to eat.

*QUEST 1 Afterthoughts*

This was the best way to get to know the Knights. Before I was given the quest I barely knew anyone, and now I know almost all of them. I still have quite a few ales left and will give them to the other 2 Knights when I see them and get to know them as well. Allakhazam is a wonderful site, since learning about it from Sir Kenweth I visit it a few times a day. This quest was fun and I learned quite a few things, I am anxious to see what Quest 2 is and what I'll be learning/exploring from it.

Squire Quest 2

Lady Fawnree asked me to make a character, go thru the island, leave the island with some coins, and become a citizen of Qeynos. Along the way I was suppose to think about the knight's virtues and act upon them.

I woke up aboard a ship and was quite confused so I talked to the Captain who told me alittle bit of what was going on, I still had questions but figured I'd get the answers I was looking for along the way. There was a man also there that wasn't very happy, it seems he had lost his hat. I noticed there were boxes not to far away so I looked in them out of hopes of atleast making one person happy, and out of the blue I found his hat along with a few other things. I returned his hat and he thanked me. I seen a woman out of the corner of my eye so I went and talked to her, after all that was happening a woman to woman talk is what I needed. She asked me to go to the merchant to see if he has what she needed. The merchant indeed had what she needed, but he wanted coins for it so I sold a coin that I found in the box along with the hat to get what the woman wanted. I went and gave it to her and she was happy. The Captain was motioning me over to him so I went to talk to him, but then the boat started to catch on fire and a goblin landed in the boat. I noticed he was running after Ingrid (the woman I had talked to) and she was frightened. Once I finally caught up with him I kept beating him over the head with my club until he died. I went and told the Captain the goblin was gone and he let me know they were approaching the Island of Refuge and wanted to know if I wanted to land.
I jumped off the boat and noticed it was a sunny day. The water was shimmering and the crabs were out along the beach. I introduced myself to a man standing next to the dock and let him know I was a mage. I grabbed a weapon as he was telling me the goblins were trying to break into the outpost. By this time I had grown an attitude and I thought to myself " well, not for long... they're just lucky I don't have a cast iron pan". I went and killed a few goblins and came to the conclusion they were almost like a bad rash that wouldn't go away. I returned to the man and he told me to talk to the mage trainer. The mage trainer had a few tasks for me to do, and I had no problems doing them. I quickly came to the conclusion that the goblins weren't going to go away so I had to show them who was boss but before I did I sat at the end of the dock and stuck my feet in the water to gather my thoughts. The oldest memory I had was giving a gift of an ale to my brothers and sisters. I wake up finding myself on a boat and am now on an island. Will I ever see my brothers and sisters again? Are they okay? I came to the conclusion that reguardless of where my brothers and sisters were they will always remain with me even if we are apart because together we make a family. Our family will always live on even if we may not. I also knew that me sitting there wasn't getting me any closer to finding them or getting of the island so I went to find some others who could help me defeat the orc leader. I came in contact with this one man who was very rude and outspoken. There was no way I was going to stoop to his level so I kept on walking and ignored him. There was a woman who wanted to know where she could find the stewart and everyone kept leading her in the wrong direction. She came to me and asked me so I explained to her that she could find the stewart by ringing the bell on the dock. A few minutes later she tells me it didn't work so I let her know I'd be there in a minute to direct her. I ran back to her and the dock to show her which bell to ring. She graciously thanked me before she vanished. I quickly found a few others to help kill the orc leader so after meeting up with them we went into the cave. Although it was dark you could see the outline of him in the background. We made our way to him after we killed a few groups of his followers. Although it was a tough battle we defeated him, but one of my teammates died in the process. Although happy to defeat the evil it was a saddened event to have someone die in the process. As we made our way out of the cave I found a map that lead to a grave. I examined the grave with my teammates and out popped a ghost. My life was almost over since he was all over me like a cheap suit, but I kept fighting him. Out of no where I noticed my life was up again and seen a man running away out of the corner of my eye. My teammates and I defeated the ghost with no deaths thanks to the man I seen running from us. The other people in my group gave me what was dropped from the ghost since it was my map, and I thanked them. After examining what was given to me I gave away a couple of things that I couldn't use to the teammates that could although I graciously took it the first time. I would rather have it get put to use than to sell it, and they deserved the reward as much as I did. We disbanded and went our seperate ways. I did my last few errands before heading to the city.
After ringing the bell I went to the Stewart and quickly found a place to rest my head at night in the local inn. I stood in my new room for a few minutes figuring out what I had while on the island. I was quite surprised that I had 10 silver still on me even after I bought 9 recipe books. I left the inn to sign up for citizenship. Once I took an application they asked me to find 5 coins from the enemy in Oakmyst Forest. It took me a good half hour to find what I needed and I returned to speak to the name that was on the application. The last thing that I had to do before I was granted citizenship was to judge a couple of people from Freeport and give them a punishment for their actions, they were to die by my hands or let free with a warning. I turned a corner to see a fallen knight laying on the floor with a Freeport mole close by. It was aparent that the Freeport mole had killed the knight. He must die for killing another with his hands. I went into battle with him, and he layed almost next to the knight when he fell. I next came into contact with a woman who was extremely remorseful for her actions so I let her free. There was another woman in dark corner that gave me the creeps. I held her with chains just in case, and my feelings were correct! The woman turned into an evil woman. Her consequence for her actions had to be death. She was tough to beat, but she too layed helpless on the ground. I gained citizenship after my last encounter and received a few items for gaining citizenship. A few minutes later a woman spoke to me and I soon realized it was my sister Lady Fawnree. I was extremely happy to see her and know that she was well. She explained she knew where I could find my other brothers and sisters. A minutes later I was reunited with the rest of my family. This was a very beautiful day and a start to many more to come.

Quick view:

Fealty- giving my brothers and sister an ale and remembering of doing it.... It isn't just me and I don't stand alone. I am part of a family and we stand together as one.

Spirituality- It was lonely on the island but I knew that reguardless of what I may face or endure I don't stand alone. My brothers and sisters will always remain with me even if we are physically apart.

Courtesy- Although it was hard to ignore the loud mouth man I met on the island I did. I knew others felt the same way as I did and if I would've said something it would only make the situation worse so I ignored him. I wasn't going to stoop to his level nor put others through more non-sence.

Honesty- Other people on the island was giving the woman a run around on how to find the Stewart. I told her the truth and even showed her how to find him.

Valor- I showed courage while fighting the ghost with my teammates by continuing to fight although my life was low.

Honor- I conducted myself well with the loud mouth guy and tried to make my fallen teammate feel better when they died although I too felt bad.

Humility- Although I was shocked that my teammates gave me the items from the ghost and I felt it wasn't fair I accepted them. In return I gave them the items I couldn't use and gave to those that could.

Squire Quest 3

Lady Fawnree asked me to visit all of the banks within the city and take a picture of the encounters....

I was in a dark and dry tradeskilling room making boxes for Abriana so she could have them to hold things for the vault. The sweat was pouring down my face as I was hard at work. This was only the beginning of what needed to be done so I decided to run errands and visit friends inbetween making boxes so making them wouldn't take a toll on my body and mind. After about a half hour of work the first box was done, but I was a mess so I left the tradeskilling place in my hometown of Willow Wood and headed around the corner to my beautiful apartment to clean up. I went to check the laundry and my robes were warm and dry so I put one on after my shower then I neatly hung up the rest. I realized my rent was due so I headed to the bank to pay them. The walk to the bank was a delightful one as the sun was shining and the animals ran about. The usual citizens were in their spot eagerly awaiting to say a few words to you. When I stepped inside the bank I noticed there were alot of people there, which didn't surprise me any. The bank teller was always there with a friendly face and a helping hand to complete whatever it was that needed to be done. As it was my turn at the counter I said hello to Banker Deepthom and told her I needed to drop of a box in my shared savings account as well as pay my weekly rent. I made my transactions and I was on my way out the door when I realized my sister asked to borrow some money, which ment I needed to take a walk over to Castleview Hamlet to her bank so it would be there for her when she got out of work. Banker Dalonalis was there, as always, and when I stepped up to the counter I gave her a book and explained that my sister needed to borrow some money but I didn't have as much funds as she needed so I was giving her this book to put in one of her bank slots so she could sell it and get whatever she needed to get. I also told the banker that my sister would be there after work. When I stepped out of the bank I looked at my to do list and realized I needed to find a mineral expert to examine the mineral I was given a day prior. The only mineral expert I knew of was in Greystone Yard, so I headed in that direction. Once in Greystone I found the miners and spoke to the expert. He in returned asked me to do some mining in a very dangerous area so I decided that would have to wait another day. Instead of holding onto it I decided to put it in the bank, and since the bank wasn't to far away I decided to go over to the one here instead of my usual bank in Willio Wood. Banker Dori was an odd woman but she was pleasant and make my banking experience a not so long one. My sister got in contact with me to tell me she sold the book, but still didn't have enough to get what she needed. I asked where she was at and she said she was in Nettleville Hovel. I told her I'd meet her there and after I drew some money out of the bank we could have an ale at the local tavern. Banker Copperstone was the quickest banker I had all day. I was in and out in no time. I met my sister at the local tavern for an ale and we talked for a few before we realized just how late it was. We said our goodbyes after we decided we'd meet in Starcrest Commons for some breakfast the next morning.

I slept wonderfully that night and in the morning I made breakfast and headed my way to Starcrest for an outting with my sister. Today was her birthday so since the bank was right near our favorite spot I stopped in to grab her gift. Banker Orudormo was alittle busy so I had to wait a minute before getting helped. I got the necklace out of the bank to give to my sister and thanked the banker. My sister wound up being overjoyed at her gift and I was pleased that she liked it. We parted after breakfast so she could head to work and so I could head to Baubbleshire to speak to the bartender at the tavern. I have always liked Baubbleshire because of the nature that surrounds it. I enjoyed the people as I walked to the tavern and the smells floating through the air. I realized after talking to the man I was asked to see that I couldn't hold anymore things so I headed to the bank so unload some stuff. I was happy that Banker Drizzcopper had patients because I had alot of stuff to give him and I knew it would take some time. I looked at the time and realized I had just enough time to go speak to Mr. Ironforge in Qeynos Harbor and to zoom by the bank to get a few recipes I had there before I needed to meet an old school friend at the bank in North Qeynos. I was very happy that the construction in Qeynos Harbor wasn't too bad when I went to talk to Mr. Ironforge. I quickly ran over to him to let him know I wanted to get certified to be a craftsman and headed to the bank. I loved the way the bank looked inside so I asked the Bankers there if I could take a picture with them in it. Bankers Newbury and Stonearm agreed but Banker Kizmit was a little shy so when I took the picture I made sure that only those that agreed would be in it. I was running late by this time so I ran as fast as I could to North Qeynos. I quickly realized why my friend asked me to meet her there when I noticed her working as a teller. She looked almost the same as she did back then when I last saw her. I asked her and Banker Ealoonias if I could take a quick picture for my scrap book and they readily agreed. After taking the picture we scurried off to the tavern for a few drinks and some good laughs.

* I have given Sir Airon and Lady Fawnree a copy of all the pictures I took....

Quest 4

Lady Fawnree had given me the quest of entering the Peat Bog and find the Antonica entrance. Once I found the entrance I was to head into Antonica. Once in Antonica I was to take a picture of where I came out at. The only hint she gave me was: "you will most likely will need to find a mage if you expect to live."

I have been to the Peat Bog many times, but never have seen anyother entrances than those of Starcrest Commons and Nettleville Hovel so I was quite intrigued at how there was yet another entrance. I figured I'd be searching forever since everytime I went into the Peat Bog I'd get lost and wind up making the same big circle quite a few times before realizing I've gotten no where. It's nothing new really, I am really terrible at directions and I'd make a 10 minute trip turn into a 30 minute trip without much thought.. Lady Fawnree's hint made me curious as to where I'd come out at and what kind of mobs I'd be dealing with. The one thing that stumped me was the finding a mage part since I am a mage. The first thing I did was to get on Alla and see if they had maps. I never found any maps there so I wound up doing a search for EQ2 maps of the Peat Bog thru yahoo. Bingo, they had a couple sites so I went to the first one on the list. I found the map I needed and printed it out. I now had directions to get me there, the next thing I needed to do was to get to the entrance. I entered the Peat Bog through Starcrest Commons and quickly found the entrance to Antonica. My first thought was, "aaah, so this is the purpose of the sewer entrance crates." I then decided to go even further and also found the entrance to Vermin Snye. Once I found Vermin Snye I headed back to the Antonica entrance to finish out my quest. I took a snap shot of myself before entering Antonica, by the sounds of it that maybe the last picture I have of myself alive before I die on the other side, and I wanted a picture.. LOL..
I clicked on the entrance and had my option of Antonica 1 or 2 so I went into #2. When I came thru to the other side I was in water and I was wondering where in the water was I and if I really wanted to know what was awaiting for me on land. I was under half a breath line so I decided to take the snapshot and go up for air. If I wound up dead atleast I would die with more knowledge what I had and if I was going to die I'd rather do it on land than have yet another floating corpse. LOL... I popped up and looked to both sides of me. I realized I was in the water between the bridges of North and South qeynos. I was just there not to long ago so I knew the only thing in there were some turtles that wouldn't hurt me. I headed up on land I turned toward where I came out at and took yet another picture. The last thing I needed to do according to the hint was to seek out a mage, I never understood why, but I was always told growing up to never ask why and just do what you're told (parents, gotta love them). So, I decided to head to the mage tower in South Qeynos, and that is where I found a mage.

After Quest thoughts:

This confirms my suspicions on how I always think of the worst possible outcomes... I've learned that the littlest things can be intruiging as well as the big things. I've found 2 other entrances in the Peat Bog while doing this quest and a remarkable site that has maps of different zones. I wish I had been intoduced to this site sooner because like Alla it is great.

The map I printed can be found at http://www.eq2arcane.com/images/peatbog.jpg

*My thoughts about my sponsoring Knight and our relationship

Lady Fawnree is a wonderful woman who reminds me alot of my sister. I never understood why she gave me one of the quests she gave me until she gave me this last one and what she said I will indeed carry it with me to my future Squires. After giving me the quest she said that she would never ask me or anyone to do something that she hasn't done. With this statement it gave me a new perspective and a complete understanding on the quests she has given me. I may not agree with Lady Fawnree all of the time and may think of ways on how I'd do it differently, but she has very good points on the way she thinks and brings a new way of thinking on things that are different than my own. I have great respect for her and have learned alot about her, about the kind of knight I will become, and alot about myself as well...

Quest 5

Sir Airon had given me the option of either leading a group into SH and retreiving a relic for one of my quests or lead the group to the chess board and help someone with writs. I chose to lead the group to the chessboard to help someone do writs. This is how my nightmarish evening went:

I entered Antonica 1 and rode the griffon to the Steppes Station. I invited Airron, Sir Kenweth, and Sir Paddi to form a group. I told them I was waiting by the griffon station and that we'd meet there. Sir Kenweth asked if we had a healer and I told him it was just us 4. After looking again at what we had in the group I asked Sir Airon if he could switch to Airon so we could have a healer and he said sure. Christalis popped on and I was tempted to ask him to join us as well but didn't because he was a lower level and wouldn't get any experience. A minute later Christalis asked if he could join us and I told him sure, if he didn't mind coming I wasn't going to tell him no. The more the merrier, even though after this quest I have to rethink that statement... LOL... Once Christalis entered Antonica 1 I invited him to the group and told him we were meeting at the Steppes griffon station. Sir Kenweth was already waiting by the SH entrance when Christalis met up with Sir Airon, Sir Paddi, and myself. I told Sir Airon, Sir Paddi, and Christalis that I'd be leading them to Stormhold and that they were to follow me. I told them that I would be stopping periodically to make sure we were all together and that we were all safe. Sir Paddi decided he was going to start running and ran up to the thundering Steppes entrance. I told him he was going the wrong way and to please follow me. After repeating myself a couple of times he did what I asked except he ran over to Gnollslayers Keep. I explained to Sir Paddi that that wasn't the entrance either and to please follow me and I would show everyone the way. He started following us again. I stopped by the big rock at the bottom of the SH path to make sure we were all together and to my surprise Paddi was actually listening, I knew I had to keep an eye on him. We reached Sir Kenweth and Airon asked me to disband for a second and I said sure. After disbanding I told them I was going afk. We reformed again after a few minutes and I was made leader again. Christalis went link dead and I told the group we'd wait a couple of minutes to see if he returned. While we waited I told them the agenda was to go to the chess board and we were going to be defeating the leeches and the goo for writs. Once inside I asked if everyone was ready and everyone said yes except for Paddi. I asked Paddi a couple of times if he was ready and still no answer, I then asked the rest of the group if he mentioned anything about going afk and they said no. Finally he came back and asked if we were ready and I laughed and told him yes. I started running down the path in SH and turned around. Half of the group was still by the entrance so I ran back up, as I was to the entrance the other half ran down. At this point I was extremely frustrated and almost to the brink of tears. It seemed like reguardless of what I did or I said no one was listening and doing whatever they wanted. Sir Murtano asked what was wrong and I explained the situation to him and he offered to help. I told Sir Murtano I didn't need the help, that I could handle this, but it was just the wrong week out of the month to be doing this quest. He told me to look at it as the guild being a fraternity in college and this being my "hazing" into the fraternity. His words helped alittle bit but I knew things were only going to get worse and that reguardless that this quest was going to be hell to get through emotionally. Sir Paddi said Honeybunny was joining us and that we could go ahead if we wanted. I told him no and that we would wait. Once Honeybunny entered the zone I invited her and restated the agenda once again. I asked if anyone had any questions and if everyone was ready. Everyone replied yes and I asked them to follow me. I ran down the ramp and half way down the hall when I stopped to make sure everyone was coming (especially Paddi) and to my surprise they were. I continued running until I reached the door we'd be going into. Once everyone was there I opened the door and went thru. I went the the zig zags and stopped where we were to turn and waited for all to get to the point I had stopped. When we were all together I turned the way we were heading and ran to the entrance of the room where the chessboard was. I looked behind me and everyone was coming except for Paddi who went the wrong way. I told Paddi he had gone the wrong way and to please come to us by going the other way. He listened and when we were altogether I told the group that this was the chessboard where they could find alot of the stuff for writs. I lead the group into a room off the chessboard where the goo were located. I asked Paddi to pull and he made a comment about thinking he was the MT. At this point the only thing going through my mind was "whatever". I was very frustrated and irritated beyond belief at Paddi. He pulls as I told him to and we were doing good until his life line started getting lower and Airon didn't heal. Paddi would up dying and Airon made the comment about not knowing he was suppose to heal. I thought to myself how I was dealing with stupid people but in a way it was my fault that I didn't state who was doing what. After Paddi was rezzed I noticed Honeybunny was the highest level so I told her she'd be tanking and told Paddi that if we had any adds that he would off tank. I told Airon he was to heal and everyone else was to assist honeybunny. When we cleared out the room I asked Honeybunny to go to the chessboard and to bring us a leech so she did. Paddi's mana was extremely low so I called a power break. The goo had popped again so Honeybunny pulled one and we defeated it. She pulled another and by the end of that fight Paddi was out of mana again so I called a power break. I noticed a pattern with Paddi, he was either just standing there or running out of mana every 2 seconds. I asked Honeybunny to pull another leech and as she went off to pull one Paddi pulls a goo that had popped. Yes, I was irritated even more but figured no biggie I could mezz one while we worked on the other. Yeah right... Everytime I mezzed the other one Paddi would wack at it and wake it up. As he did this lives were going down and I really expected us to die but Sir Airon healed at the perfect time. We were in the middle of a fight and I completly freeze up and then the game crashes to the desk top. I work may way toward getting myself in the game when Sir Airon asks me on teamspeak if I was there. I explain that I got punted and was working my way back in. Once back in the group they tell me they thought I got extremely fed up and just left them. Well, my thoughts on this was if I was going to do that I would've done it long before now and I was almost done with the quest and there was going to be no way I was going to do this all over again. Once is definantly enough putting up with Paddi being this way. He was the teammate everyone loves to hate.. LOL.. Christalis gets aggro and runs around the room like a chicken with his head cut off and I asked him to please don't run when there's aggro. I asked Honeybunny to pull another leech and when she got to the chessboard said that there was only one other group out there now so we all headed back to the chessboard. She pulls a goo and christalis does an aoe attack and aggros a whole group of leeches. He immediately dies and Airon states he can only heal so much. I didn't even see him heal but at this point all I wanted to do was to do what we had to do and get out. Things couldn't get any worse, or so I thought anyways. We kill a few squires and as Honeybunny pulls Airon goes link dead and Paddi almost immediately dies. Airon comes back and rezzes Paddi. We do a few more squires and somehow we get an add of a leech. Airon goes link dead again and Paddi dies. I was mezing one while Honeybunny goes after the other one. I notice that Christalis is no where to be found but his life is getting low. I wind up dying so there's Paddi and I dead pretty much side by side, Airon linkdead, christalis being god knows where and Honeybunny fighting. At this point all I wanted to do was get out of there and fast... LOL... Airon comes back to the group and rezzes Paddi and I. I notice Christalis being there with us so I asked everyone if they were ready to leave and they said yes. I started leading the way back to the entrance and I asked Honeybunny if she was coming and she ran infront of me. She disbanded when we got to the main hallway and we all got to the entrance. I asked the rest of the group which antonica they were in and Airon said prime so I entered Antonica prime. I explained we were going to head our way back to the griffon when Airon congratulated me on a job well done and I told him thank you but it didn't feel that way. Christalis asked why and Airon said we'd talk about it when we got to the griffon. We all reach the griffon and Christalis said he was going to head back and work off the debt we had gotten so he disbanded. Airon told me I did a great job and didn't seem stressed. I explained that I don't show my stress to others but if he wanted details Murtano would beable to fill him in. Paddi goes afk before we disband. Shortly after that everyone logged for the night....

* Quest after thoughts*

EQ2 is the second mmorpg game I've played and between the many bad groups I've had in City of Heroes ( I have a maxed out hero at level 50 and a level 10 alien) and the bad groups I've had here this group definantly put the others to shame. Today I am still finding myself wanting to strangle Paddi although I know it was done out of "love". I hope and pray I'll never have to deal with a group like this again. The only thing I would've changed looking back is stating what everyone will be doing before we headed in instead of waiting until the first death to do it. I realized that I have alot of patience but I too can lose my patience. I walked into this quest thinking I was a lousy leader but after this quest I realize I need to give myself more credit. I still wonder what was done on purpose and what was done on accident from Airon and Christalis but I am glad this is all done and over with. I look forward to quest #6 and the adventure it brings.....

* Part of the reply from Sir Airon on quest 5 in reguards to quest 6:
A few notes on your next quest:

Quest 6 will be a bit of a culmination of all your previous quests so please don't forget what you have learned. Please clear all of your current city task that are green to you. (i think you can leave the kill the gryphon 's one ) Please familiarize yourself with TS, know that tihis quest will involve being a group leader (don't worry i will take to Paddi about taking the reverse Elixir of Youth so that he will have gained a few years) , you will have to set up the group lead us into battle complete a series of tasks , dictating strategies, detailing each members tasks, knowing possible thing that can go wrong (what do you mean Centaurs hate you Airon they love everyone else :-P) This time however we will all be ourselves (i am not sure it that is better or worse) and we will be willing to offer advice and help guide you but as the group leader the decisions will be yours (the only thing you have to worry about is bad advise, and our normal selves) I will give you more details when you tell me you are ready for them ;-)

Again good job and you are a Shining example of an upcoming squire

The first thing I did was deleted my writs that were green and went and got new ones. I told Sir Airon that I had gotten new ones and later on that evening we got into a group so he could look at them. I told him I was ready to be given quest 6 so that I can familiarize myself with TS with goals in mind while I prepare myself not only for this quest but in a whole new zone. My quest was to complete all 4 writs with the stipulation of one of them being done with being accompanied by a knight while one of the other ones being completed with a full group of KoRT. Before he logged for work he asked if I had any questions and I replied no since it was pretty easy directions (or so I thought anyways). After he left I figured I better get busy familiarizing myself with TS so I look at my writs. When I looked at the writs there was a blue one, two yellow ones, and a white one. My immediate thought was that Sir Airon must be nuts if he seriously thought this could be done but just incase he knew something I didn't I went to someone who has alot of experience in the area. I told Sir Murtano what quest 6 was and if he thought I could do it. He told me that the blue one I could easily do, one of the yellow ones I could do with another person with the possibility of soloing them, but the other two were impossible at my level. I wasn't a very happy Squire when I heard this and to be honest I was a bit discouraged. Sir Murtano told me he'd talk to Sir Airon about it that night if he saw him and advised me to discuss this with him as well. I spent the rest of the night quite upset and frusterated. When I woke up the next morning I did my usual and then I sat down to ask Sir Murtano if he'd talken to Sir Airon. Sir Murtano told me he had indeed talked to him and he did the quest like this on purpose. This really wasn't what I wanted to hear at 3am.. LOL.. Sir Murtano asked me to look on the boards because Sir Airon posted something that I would be interested in. I figured that with me not even having a cup of coffee and just hearing that Sir Airon did it on purpose that visiting the board wasn't a very good idea until I atleast woke up with a couple cups of coffee. While I drank my coffee while Sir Murtano and I discussed the quest. I basically told him that at my level I wasn't able to do it and that the only way to do it was to grind myself to level 21 so Phalken could group up with us so I could complete it. Sir Murtano asked me to look at him and answer a question for him, so that's what I did. When I looked at him I didn't see A Chancellor from KoRT but as the person I've grown with for the past year. He asked me to put my womanly stubborness aside and to honestly tell him that's what I wanted to do. I sat there and stared at him not being able to answer. Finally I spoke and told him I couldn't tell him that because that wasn't what I wanted. He made the comment he didn't think so and asked if there were any other options. I told him no, and he asked me why I couldn't go to Sir Airon for help so that I could complete it. I got upset yet again and explained to him that I refuse to go to Sir Airon and tell him I wasn't able to do it because I could if I were to grind. If there's a will there's a way and I definantly have the will and Phalken was my way of completing it. With that in mind I went to the other computer and checked the boards, I immediately saw the post and read it. The post left me confused as to what the quest really was if it wasn't what I was told. Sir Murtano and I went many rounds of talking on the quest and asking Sir Airon for help. Finally Sir Murtano asked me if I'd beable to eventually complete the quest and I said yes. He then asked me how would it be giving up if I am capable of completing it just not now or in the immediate future. I told him I saw his point and that it's not giving up, it's just asking for help and I don't have issues with asking for help as I do with giving up. When Sir Airon popped online I told him that when he had the chance I'd like to talk to him about the quest he had given me and we met up at the Oracle tower to do just that. I told Sir Airon what I had told Murt and he asked me what parts of the quest I thought I could complete. I told him I can easily solo the blue crabs and I could complete the griffawns but it would be a challenge. He then explained to me that he had given me this quest on purpose and he ment for it to be this difficult because he wanted to see how I would handle it. I explained to him that it was indeed hard for me to come to him but I had no other choice except for doing something I didn't want to do. He explained to me that this part of the quest was to teach me a virtue and he asked me which one it was. I told him it was definantly humility as I was thinking that it was to show me that I am only a small part of something great. He told me I was right and that although it was hard I had done a well job coming to him. We both sat down and came to the conclusion I'd do the crabs and the griffawns, and that the crabs I'd do with a Knight and the more challenging one I'd do with a full group of KoRT. I left the conversation feeling better.
After this I posted on both boards that I was ready to complete quest 6 but needed volunteers as it was to be done with a full group. I got 3 responses which delighted me,so I waited a few days and reposted when I wanted the quest to be completed. I made sure I had a couple of days in mind so that if any of the days were bad for anyone I'd have other days in there that would leave a variety. As the days went by there weren't any more posts and barely anyone was online. I grew quite upset and very frusterated. Here I was given a quest in which I needed a full group of KoRT to complete and it seemed that although I posted on both boards no one wanted to help. The worse part about it was that the griffawns were yellow and were soloable mobs but yet I had to wait to complete it. I sent an e-mail to both Sir Airon and my Sponsor-Knight (Milady Fawnree) about my concerns. A few e-mails were exchanged, a lesson was learned (see my note to future/current squires), and I felt as if I had gotten somewhere. The next morning Lady Fawnree and I defeated the crabs. We met at the Steppes Station as I told her where we were going and what both of us were going to do. I was going to be tanking while she was going to assist me. Along the path to the dock I made sure she was always with me and I pointed out certain things that I had already learned. When we got to the crabs I refreshed her memory on where we were going to run if we needed to and what our goal was. She explained she was worried because they were red to her and made the comment I might've picked the wrong Knight. I explained to her that although they were red to her that they were blue to me and that we shouldn't have a problem, but if by chance we did we could pull back and not try it anymore. She let me know she wanted to try, so I pulled in our first crab. It went down pretty easy and we congratulated eachother. Although there were a few levels between us we made a great team. We defeated most of the crabs and as I pulled the crab Lady Fawnree had the crab next to it targetted so we had both of them. I tried to mezz the one while the other crab was chained but it fizzled. She chained the one crab while I tried to mezz the other but he resisted. It wasn't long before we were both dead. I had to chuckle to myself because although I was dead it could be worse. Atleast I was dead on a warm and sandy beach instead of floating in water. Milady Fawnree felt really bad, and I explained to her that it was my fault since my mezz didn't hold. We revived and defeated the other few crabs I needed. As the last crab fell I thanked her for being there to help me and we used the call of qeynos to go back home. I stayed on the beach until she disappeared...
The only part left I had of the quest was to complete the griffawns... I grew even more frusterated as the days went by and my sponser knew it. I had sent another e-mail to Sir Airon about my frusterations and how I felt it was unfair. After a KoRT meeting I was told that I no longer needed a full group of KoRT but if I wanted to there was a man of multiple personalities ( Sir Vinmana), a four legged animal (Sir Airon), and a man that no words can describe ( Sir Paddi) were willing to adventure to Thundering Steppes to help me. We grouped up and met at the Stepped Station where we got situated and I brought on what we'd be doing and who was going to do what. We made our way to the zone in and when we tried to zone in to Thundering Steppes the zone crashed. After a few attempts of trying to log back on to only getting rebooted we decided to call it a night after we agreed to meet up the following morning to complete this writ. I became uptight when the afternoon came and people were coming and going. Sir Murtano reminded me I didn't need a group if I didn't want to have one and that I could solo them. I explained to him I felt more comfortable doing it with people instead of by myself. I was in a new zone and not aware of much. I didn't know what to expect or anything and to be honest it scared me. He finally asked me why I never once asked him for help.... I explained to him that I didn't want him to do it for me and that the only way for him to help me was to do it. He asked me that if he knew of a way to help me with him not doing it for me if I was willing to let him help and I agreed. He took control of the keyboard with me sitting next to him. He ran around the area and showed me a few places to get quests as he explained the mobs and what they do. We discussed what my spells were and what they did. He asked me if he could pull a griffawn and I told him yes. As he was beating him down we discussed why he was doing the spells he was doing and why he did them as he did. All through he was telling me what to watch for. After awhile I felt confident with what I had learned of the area and of my capabilities so I took over and completed the writ... Once I killed all 20 griffawns my quest 6 was complete.....

*quest after thoughts*

This was indeed the most frusterating and most difficult quest by far although it was a good way of showing humility. I learned alot about the upcoming zone and the mobs within. Although this was a very difficult time for me I would indeed do it all over again as I am sure I'm not the only one who learned something from it.

* my advice to the current and future Squires*

I have indeed learned ALOT of things from the squiring process as I am sure that you will as well. I am hoping that as I am ending the squiring process that things will be smoother for you. The main things to remember is that communication is very important. I can guarantee you that if you keep an open communication between yourself, the initiator, and your sponsoring knight that things will go much smoother. My issue with this was that I had waited to speak up about my concerns and I grew quite frusterated with myself and the squiring process. Keep in mind that although the sponsoring knight and initiator are Knights that they are human as well. They too are capable of mistakes and are only aware of them if you speak up. Once again, I can't stress how much communication is needed. I wish you luck on your journey and if you ever need anything please feel free to come to me. If you'd like my e-mail address I am more than happy to give it to you as I check it quite often
