I was browsing thorugh some old disks looking for Shumards maps and I found a couple stories I'd written way back. And one concerning Areleth as a page. I don't know why I saved what I did but I'd like to repost them here for old times sake.

::This was the prelude to Korts shield plan originaly created March 26, 1996::

Corwin arose early this morning, (or at least it was early for him) to begin his first task as the Weapons Master if KORT. He was greeted by a late morning sun and the smell of a new season of growth in the air. Outside his window birds chirped and sang their songs of love while inside pages and squires hustled about their chores.
A new spirit had entered Camelot with the talk of expansion and adventure that would await those strong and brave enough to be a part of it. An Outpost was to be established to aid those of good heart and contain the evil that was spreading in the Lost Hills. It had been a couple of days since Cor had talked with his brother Zorm about the darkness that was sweeping the hills. Yet still he felt a chill when remembering Zorms description of the death and destruction that was a daily event there. Shaking
the evil thoughts from his mind Corwin washed and ate his morning feast. His task now was to gather arms and armor for the Knights that would defend this new outpost. Gathering them would be easy.. getting them to the post may be another story.

Korts armory was for the most part empty these days. It had been several long months since anyone had taken charge of the weapons room and organized any sort of inventory. This was part of the job, so this was Cor's first minor task. Rummaging through the stacks of ordinary weapons he soon realized that since no one had organized them, the magical items where mixed with the mundane ones. Quickly casting a spell Cor smiled as his eyes adjust to the blue light filling the room.
There in the barrel of swords!! A Long sword and a massive 2 handed sword, both glowing brightly and looking to be very finely crafted. And there leaning against the far wall... a tree trunk?? Oh (grin of stupidity) a club made of the rarest of oaks.
:::searching now on a shelf in the back corner:::
Ahh!! Several wands and a small box containing what appear to be magical rings and bracers.
As he searches more he discovers that even tho no one has cleaned this room in ages it is still somewhat organized and is full of weapons that will aid the outpost;>
Gathering the weapons into bundles of like styles (swords, pole-arms, missile etc..) Corwin begins loading them into a wagon for transporting to the Post.

:::some one was running for office. Can anyone remember this post or who made it, I don't think this is any of my work:::

A tall simply clothed man approaches the podium. He stops before addressing the crowd and carefully adjusts his travel cloak around his neck -loosening what feels like a noose from around his neck-
With a quiet -cough- he begins to speak.

"My fellow adventurers, it seems of late that our lives have turned to war far to often these past months. Look around you now..." -he pauses as people stop to look at each other- " How many of you here
carry the entrapment of spell craft on you? How many of you here now have depended on your abilities to save you not from the evils of the land... but from other citizens of our once fine city?!"

--another pause while he waits for the mummers to die down--

"How many of you here have been accosted while walking to our sister city of Triboar? It is my belief that if we bond together in this time of need that we as a people can end this needless violence! I propose that we band together and form a citizens watch. As it is most apparent that Lord Nashers elite guard is just not well enough funded to be everywhere all the time!"

--listens to shouts of agreement--

"This new citizens watch will enable us to warn our fellow adventurers of danger and imminent attack. With lookouts in such places as the Lost Hills our safety would be much increased while traveling. Not only will this citizens watch provide safe travel but it will also increase commerce! With proper warning merchant caravans will no longer need to depend on high priced guards to escort them to our neighboring towns. This will effectively eliminate and unwanted roughiens in our local taverns and inns and keep the peace here in Never Winter."

"Look behind me here folks..." --points to other candidates standing behind him-- "These gentlemen don't want peace! They thrive on the war that spreads around us like wild fire! It is there trade and commerce that will flourish while we all suffer!"

---Stands taller now---

"My friends, I have been a member of this society for more than 4 years now. No small feet by anyones standards. In that time I have actively strove for peace between the warring factions that live in this fine city. I am a member of one of this cities most upstanding guilds, and have worked quietly yet constantly for The Good of The Realms and the Unity of All! Now I ask you this... Will your sons and daughters be safe to walk the streets of Never Winter if the violence is not stopped? Or worse yet, will they be slain in some needless war years from now, when we could resolved the conflicts here and now!?"

"This town needs a leader, one that will unite the guilds and factions within it for a common goal. Not a leader that will let this blood shed continue. It is your choice my friends... stop the violence now and strengthen our city. Or continue to live in fear of the evils that well up from our sewers and pour in from the Lost Hills. It will not be easy, but United we shall stand and United we shall have peace!"

---holds hands high in a symbol of peace---

"Thank you all for listening, I will now turn the podium over to the next speaker..."

--Turns and walks to his position in line with the other candidates

:::This was the only poem I ever posted to our boards. It wond me a GoH contest. Typed up in February of 96 it was actually written sometime in '93 during a very boring Intro to Computers class:::

A Kings Tail

On black ebony wings you fly,
Your evil shadow scars the sky.
Burning flesh to eat the meat,
Your last meal lays at my feet.

Two years, three months, and half a week,
My quest's you evil lair to seek.
Upon the mountain I see thy cave,
Inside its heart will be your grave.

As I hide to watch and wait,
I start to ponder my awesome fate.
Because of you I've lost it all,
'Twas you who caused my kingdoms fall.

You roamed my land in search of prey,
Haunting the night while in bed I lay.
My army was useless against one like you,
You killed them all with flames you spew.

I was forced to watch, due to my rank,
And as you killed, my heart it sank..
Good men have died to fight my war,
Vengeance be mine to them I swore.

I wear the armor my Father made,
From scales of dragons he had slayed.
And with his sword made in their flames,
I'll add you to his list of names.

As I climb the path of doom,
The sky turns black as a witches womb.
I start to wonder, are you aware,
That one lone man you soul will bare.

You cave does smell of rotten meat,
Upon my face I feel your heat.
I see the truth of legends old,
Upon the floor flows blood in gold.

Teeth as long as a wizards golem,
A heart that's black and oh so solemn.
Eyes glow red with anger strong,
You think this fight will not last long.

"I challenge ye, dragon black!
Will you fight? Or courage lack?
I see your pride is full of you,
You lung, I duck, as if on cue.

It seems like hours we play this game,
And still I've yet to learn your name.
"Oh great beast who took my throne,
By what name should you be known?"

Not a word does the dragon speak,
But stands he tall, like a mountains peak.
Upon his chest are many scars,
More even then the sky hath stars.

Now in his eyes I catch a glimpse,
What I see does make me wince.
Him and I are much the same,
For in our worlds we need no name.

This monsters heart, is torn in two,
Between the days of old and new.
Without a kingdom upon which to feast,
There is no life for such a beast.

And with no beast for me to slay,
This might as well be my last day.
One in the same, both beast and man,
Both just a part of some great plan.

Now knowing the my head I bow,
And in Gods name it is I vow.
Never again such beasts I'll kill,
For now I know it is Gods will.

To my surprise he does the same,
For now my death would bring him shame.
Two brothers we, yet not alike,
I think of this as home I hike.

My life has changed upon this day,
Now in my heart there's no dismay.
I thank the beast I sought to tame,
That Dragon black that had no name.

:::another one I can't take credit for but I love it. Again can anyone remember who wrote this story? Dated November 18,1996:::

War's Harsh Reality

The sun will rise another day over this field of battle
and standing proud will be us my friend.
Glowing in the sweet joy of victory. Our voices will sing
And give praise to the Gods that guided our swords this night.
Tho arrows fly and spells are hurreled we shall survive
to tell the tale of death and life and our struggle for freedom
and in the eyes of younger lads we'll see awe and gratitude
For because we fought this awful day they'll stand free men.
As night draws near I sing this song to ward away dispair
Yet on they press this endless horde
And through our lines they break,
to slay and mame Without a care this armies lives they take.
Now darkness claims us all some time For some sooner then others.
But I my friend refuse to die on the blade of some foul beast.
So on I fight and sing and pray until the dawning day
When Selune's light passes by, and Sune reclaims her throne
Then with fire deep inside for heavens gates I'm prone.
I call a charge and forward run, into this blackest horde
My sword held high I remember words I'd spoken long ago.
The sun will rise another day.... What foolish thoughts I had.
Yet even Sune's warm fires high, could not my soul have saved.
For as I charged I re-alized, no man had heard my call.
And into darkness I had run, alone and doomed to fall.

There was a time when men sang songs
of battles they had fought
and in that time my heart was strong
for the goodness that I sought

Now those days have come and gone
like flowers turn to dust
And here I lay all cold and hard
embracing deaths foul lust

No longer can I feel the pain
nor hear the battle rage
But my eyes could see the evil
That wrote my final page.

Death is odd I notice now
As I watch the horde run by
For cruelty rains like spring showers
and makes us all ask why?

If I had fought this battle here
for a cause devout.
Did I lay still upon the ground
My life's blood running out.

All grows black, it's time I fear , for nothing can I see
And into deaths lustful arms I sink whole heartidly
Gods damn them all those foul beasts and the men that drive them such
For tis there fault I die here now, from wounds they hath delivered.....
A light..... a light, it shines so bright!!
I see it now ahead. Perhaps I live and dreamed my death?
Yes, that must be what befell, for in that light I see my love
Her hair it shines and glitteres. What luck and chance and foul dreams
That bring me to her side. I'd lost all hope, yet now I wake
to heaven in her arms. No horde of black can keep me back from
Beauty such as this, would take a God from up above with heavens might and force.
Yet as I look and closer walk something seems amiss.
Although it is my love I see, this light it blinds my vision
For in her eyes I see myself, a whisp of what I was.
And now is time to realize that death is not a dream
For even souls in search of heaven, shed tears for broken dreams.
Now what I thought to be my bride is only just an angel
And to me she beckons, and waves her arms, calling out my name.
And soberly I follow, knowing what lays ahead, and fearing it no more
I walk into the lights of heaven to knock upon that door.

I pray and pray to see the day
when wars are at an end
from high aloft I watch and cry
For warriors who defend.

In peaces name they fight and die
Yet never does it come.
For always will the evil try
and make those men succomb.

With bitter hate for all that's good
the darkness fights the light
And with hearts of truest good intent
The light will battle night.

No one will win this holey war
For if the tide is turned
some God above will intervene
And all our hopes be burned.

Thus I learned the ways of war
But not until my death
It came to me so suddenly
Upon my dieing breath.

I speak to you my friend, you hear
That what I say is truth?
No mortal man can change the ways
Of something so aloof.

::: A partial story from Corwins past. Cappybarra was his second wife, the marriage was short lived, they parted ways and have never spoken since. Akai Kai was Corwins first wife and if asked the only one he'd ever speak of.:::

Even as Shumards footsteps echoed down the corridore I was packing for the journey ahead. I should have known my words would cause Capy pain, but I didn't realize they would hurt her so much. I'd only wanted to delay the wedding until my nerves settled down. After all marriage and a child would be a very big step in my life. Even as I packed I found myself wondering how I would raise child without my past affecting it.
Not knowing what would lay ahead of me in these next few days I decided on a shield and better armor and left my trusted sword in it's case.
I hoped I wouldn't need any weapon, but it would be foolish to believe I wouldn't. Quickly grabbing my equipment I ran to the kitchen in search of some hard rolls and jerkey for nourishment. To my surprise and delight I found my father groggily searching for a midnight snack.
"Father, Capy has run away and I know not where! I fear for her life, and the life of her unborn child. Do you think you could accompany me on my quest to find her?", I blurted before the poor guy had a chance to look at me.
Within seconds Dagron was awake and scrambling for his cloak and sword. To my surprise he even remembered to put on his breeches before running out the door (without me). Calling for him to wait up I grabbed some food and followed him to the stables.
"When did she leave? Where'd she go?? Why'd she leave!???" Dag assulted me with questions as we loaded the horses and and talked with Str about our search plans.
"So far as I know, from what Lord Shumard has said.. The Lad on duty
said she was in great haste to leave and demanded a horse that wouldn't be missed. When Shu asked him as to her destination he only replied with a shrug and pointed East towards Nightsedge. Dad, you don't think she'd go into the woods alone do you!!??" My heart raced at the thought of the woman I loved surrounded by ogres or worse.. some undead beasts.
"Str tell Shumard that Corwin and I have left for Nightsedge. If you here nothing from us in ten days have him send out the Knights in full force to search for her. It is my wish she be returned home before any harms befalls her, or my future grandchild!", and with that Dagron spurred his mount out the gates of Camelot.
"And Str my brother and squire, please tell the Lady Iser I'm sorry for stealing her love away at such short notice. Beg her forgiveness for me and tell her I shall keep him safe til we return. That is... if I can ever catch up with him!!", Turning my mount I quickly took up persute of the man I'd grown to love more then life itself.

For two days we traveled unmolested on the trail to Nightsedge. Our steeds
grew weary and our nerves grew thin. I was unraveling with each passing
minute, visions of horrible beats surrounding Capy filled my head.
We ate little, stopping only for an hours or two's rest in Floodblest then
continuing on towards Nightsedge. Few words were spoken between Dag and I,
as he respected my privacey and I offered no information as to why Capy had
fled. Thankful as I was that Dag was here, I was also a bit worried that the
trip would proove to much for him. He hadn't adventured much in the past
year; as his office kept him busy. It was obvious to me that he wished to be
in Iser's arms rather then sleeping on the cold hard earth.
So it came to be that we reached Nightsedge on the third day of our journey.
And it was there that I asked my father to return to his love and to Camelot.
I could sense I was on the right trail and the local innkeep confirmed my
hopes when I discribed Capy to him. So after a short nap and and some supply
shopping I bid my father goodbye.
"Tell Shumard if you will Father, that I am on her trail and won't give up.
Should it be that I'm not back in Camelot by the end of our ten days have the
Knights begin there search in the woods east of this town. For it is there
that I fear she will have gone. Journey safely now.. I'll be fine as soon as
I find Capy." My voice quivered as I spoke these words. For tho I believed
I would fnd her in those woods I feared for her condition should I not be
quick enough.
"Son.. Follow your heart and you'll do just fine. I too sense she is in
those woods and you know as well as I that if she where injured or dead... we
would sense nothing. Now be off!!! Shumard will is to busy to lead a full
scaled search with all the Knights!!", with a wink and a smile Dag returned
to the inn and left me alone.
The rest of the third day was spent in reaching the western edge of the
woods. Alone it seemed I made worse time, tho infact I made better time.
I decided to camp for the night in a small clearing outside the tree's and
begin again in the morning....

I've always found it hard to keep watch and sleep at the same time. Unlike most adventurers I was a sound sleeper. So it really wasn't that great a surprise when I awoke to the voices of several orcs very near to me.
I'll never know if they new I was there or not... because at that moment a large ogre sorta tripped over me and let out a shout that would alarm an army as to my presence.
With little time to spare I jumped up, grabbed my trident and shield, and bolted for the woods. A few arrows buzzed by but I managed to reach the treeline unharmed. About ten steps into the trees I realized I wasn't being followed, when I stopped to investigate I understood why.
"Duuh hey Pigfaces!! Lookie wat I finded, a sack fuld up wit breds and stuff!!", shouted the ogre.
"let us see!! let us see!! Ya big dumb ogre, stop eating it all and share with us!!", snorted a orc from behind him somewhere.
"what abouts the human? Lets go kill'm..."
"What human?"
"Duh.. a human? where!?"
"bah!! there's no human here, just some food this horse was carrying"
"Wow, whatta nice horsey.. to bring us dis food. Ummm.. Pigfaces.. can we eats da horse??"
Grimacing to myself I prepaired for an attack. After all I couldn't let them slay such a faithful animal and friend. But before I could cast my first spell the stallion bolted towards Nightsedge. I guess it knew what they meant;x

So here I was. My food eaten by a dumb ole ogre and some stinky orcs. My horse run off to the safety of civilization. And me with only the clothes on my back. It was then I felt it... a strange sensation... like someone crying in my mind. And I knew it must be Capy!! Without a thought as to how I would survive I charged into the woods in search of her. But without my maps and supplies, how could I ever find her?
Dispair tightened its grip upon my heart. It was as if the Gods had turned there back on me. Hours I walked through the dense tree's and underbrush. Never seeing a landmark or even another living thing. Hours turned into days and time became a blur. It seemed no matter how far I walked I went nowhere. Fatigue set in, and my mind began playing tricks on me.
On the sixth day of my journey I came across a curious sound. Hiding among the brush I listened intently, hoping and praying it was Capy. My heart as the sounds grew closer, but then suddenly I realized what it was.
It was the sound of metal grating against metal. The sound that only two things in this realm can make. It was either an Iron Golem or a curious breed of creatures known to me only as Mechs. Either could proove fatal to me if I wasn't careful, so I stayed hidden. Suddeny it appeared, walking casually around the edge of a small copse of trees. It was part machine, part human and completing oblivious to my existance.
Deciding I had nothing to lose I stepped forth and greeted the Mech.
"Hello there. Umm.. My name is Sir Corwin Americus, I'm a Knight of the Round Table, and I'm hopelessly lost.", I waited catiously for a reply.
"Greetings Sir Corwin, I am called Mech Blast, and I am not lost.", was its answer. Obviously this robot-man was friendly, but could I trust it!? I had no choice so I asked it a question..
"Sir, could you tell me.. have you seen a young human female in your recent travels through these woods? She is about this tall >holds hand chin high< and has a wonderful silver complextion." again I waited for his reply.
"I am no Sir.. I am Mech Blast. And yes.. I have seen a female human fitting that discription in these woods. Would you care to know where?"
"yes! Please it is most important that I find her, she may be in danger!", I blurted almost to fast for even him to understand.
"follow me then human, I shall take you close, then you are on your own".
Thus I joined with this robot-man. We traveled for another day and part way through the night before my body demanded I rest. My new friend needed no rest so he stood gaurd while I slept a much needed sleep....

Awaking the next morning I found my robot friend had vanished, without even a goodbye. It is my understanding that Mech's have no human emotions or sense of obligation. There for this one no doubt, saw no reason to watch a sleeping human any longer and went on its way.
Time was growing short so I rummaged up a few berries and a root or two and ate an unappetising breakfast. The crying seemed much louder in my mind now. As if Capy's heart was crying out to me. I closed my eyes and concentrated............darkness............trees.............rocks...............clouded sky.......more rocks........tears of sorrow.......a clearing.......rocks.........
My mind exploded in a whirlpool of visions. I saw much but understood little. It seemed that rocks where important, but why rocks in the middle of a forest!!?? frustration overwhelming me I lifter my eyes to the sky about to insult the gods for there cruelty when.. I saw it there, on the horizon. A mountain as large as any dwarven home I'd ever read about.
Could that be the rock I see???
Quickly I searched out the tallest tree in the area and scaled its branches. Once at the top I could see clearly the base of the mountian where the tree's met with it's granite surface and the snow's of winter began there conquest of the forest. As I looked I noticed a peculiar clearing to the southwestern side of the mountain. That was it!! The cry's echoed louder and louder in my ears.. She was there in that clearing!!
Falling more than climbing down from my pearch I quickly noted the suns location and began my frantic trip towards the mountains base. For hours and hours I walked. Stopping only at a stream or puddle to sip water, then continuing onward. She was close now, I culd feel it in my heart. It was just as Dagron had said it would be. I knew now she was alive.
As darkness blanketed the forest around me a reached the small clearing I'd seen from many miles away. Searching frantically I began to scream her name.
"Capy my love!! Where are you?? My god I know you're here, please come back to me!!!", pleading I ran around the area. Hope fading with the last light of day, I collapsed on the ground. My energy gone and my resolve shattered. She was gone, my heart had tricked me into believing in something my mind knew was false.
With a sob I dropped my shield and weapon and leaned against a large oaktree. I prayed that some horrible monster would claim my life while I slept, So I wouldn't have to return to Camelot alone. Where I'd be forced to spend the rest of my days grieving over the woman I loved and hating myself for speaking to quickly.

::::::The darkness of sleep claimed me as night fell upon the land, and I slept, many horrible dreams ravaging my slumber::::::::::

::Big Grinisclaimer.... the child mentioned in this story was not Corwins by blood, but was one that Corwin took as his own when they wed. Sadly since he's heard nothing of Capy or the child this story has no true ending. written in january of 96:::

:::Page Areleth I just love it! Oh how time flies by and we all grow so old. Just remember all you young folks even Areleth was once a page!:::

Areleth, Page to the Knights of the Round Table, sits with his back to a
tree on top of a hill overlooking Camelot. The Sun is setting behind the
Castle and is a beautiful sight to behold. The look on the young Page's
face though is not of one surveying a beautiful scene, but of deep
concentration and sorrow. His faithful warhorse, Horse, stands near him,
idly munching the tall, green grass.
Time passes and the mantle of night closes about the world. It is a clear
night and a full moon rises above the land, still Areleth does not stir
from his spot. Horse nuzzles him and lets out a soft [Snort]. "Here you
go." Areleth says and hands Horse an apple from his pack. Another [Snort].
"Your welcome.".
Still more time passes and still Areleth waits, anyone watching would
think him part of the land. The late breezes stir the grass, and night
creatures with night sounds fill the cool air with an almost silent ruckus.
As the Moon rises to its zenith, Horse once again breaks the stillness
with a stomp of one hoof [Snort]. "You know very well what we are waiting
for. You can sense her coming just as easily as I can. You've known it for
two days, I can tell because you have not said three words to me in days
and I usually can not get you to be quiet.". [Whinny]. "Don't tell me I
should avoid her, what choice do I have, anywhere We go She can sense us as
easily as we her!". [Snort, head shake]. "I know, I'll be careful.".
Areleth smiles at his friend and reaches up to pat Horse on the neck.
A short time later the wind kicks up and clouds rush in from the south.
The moon and stars are blotted out and the usual sounds of night cease. The
darkness is almost complete and Horse edges closer to his master. Finally
Areleth rises and turns away from Camelot.
"You can come out now," he calls into the gloom, "I know your there,
We've been waiting for you." A figure cloaked in shadow emerges from the
woods and steps toward the waiting pair. Areleth pulls a lantern from his
pack and lights it, hanging it from a branch on the tree. The figure steps
into the pool of newly formed light in this sea of darkness, and seems to
spill that darkness ahead of it. A hood is removed to reveal the face of a
beautiful woman, soft pale skin, delicate features, pouting red lips, and a
dark cloud of long silky black hair. The eyes though, the mirrors of the
soul, are black and empty. Areleth puts a blanket down and motions for her
to sit. She does and Horse takes two steps backwards, his eyes tracking her
as she moves. Areleth sits down beside her.
"Well Areleth, it's been what, six months since we last seen one another?"
"About that, not nearly long enough Rianna. Why have you come?"
"Now, now, Paladin, where are your manners, are you not pleased to see
me?"
"About as pleased as I am to see beholders riding Dracoliches. Why are you
here?"
"I have come seeking your help. I have a mission that requires you special
skills."
"Me? Help you? Have you gone daft Rianna? What on earth makes you think
I'd help you! I am a Paladin and a Page to the Knights of the Round Table,
and you are one of the vilest most evil Magic User's I ever had the
misfortune to meet!"
"You'll help me Areleth, you'll help me because there are innocents at
stake, and you always were a sucker for saving people. You'll help me
because you never could stop being Mr. Good, Mr. Righteous, Mr. sorry
Rianna I have no time for you, I have to save the world!!! I always hated
you for that! You were always so damn good! Everyone would say he's such a
nice boy. Rianna, why don't you be more like Areleth. Oh how I hate you,
but right now I need your help. I know you still Love me Areleth, you can't
stop yourself from helping me."
With that Areleth grabs her and pulls her close, looking deep in her
eyes. "Its just like you to attach strings to emotions freely given. You
don't hate me because I'm good. You hate me because you love me as much as
I love you, and love to you hurts worse than the deepest wound." For a
moment, just a moment he sees there in her eyes the love they once shared,
the love that could never be again, then its gone and she tears herself
away. "It was not I who turned away from you Rianna, it was you who turned
away from the light. I will help you, but only enough to save wh

I will help you, but only enough to save whomever is
in danger, you won't draw me into another of your dark plots."
With her back to him she ends "Fine then, meet me back here in one week to
make plans." and melts back into the darkness. Areleth stands there for a
moment, watching her go. He turns and douses the lantern and the night
closes in again. He takes horse by the reins and the pair head back to the
lights and sounds of Camelot below.

To be continued.

From: Areleth2
To: Sir CORW1N

Interviews:

Areleth sat at his usual spot, his usual spot for thinking and dreaming and
today, remembering. Sitting on his favorite hill, his favorite tree at his
back, he sits facing Camelot, lost in thought. His war-horse Horse stands
nearby, nursing a hang-over from the previous nights revelry at Strider's. Mental
Note: Lady Nesha's Gin and Warhorses do not mix. Horse wasn't too unhappy
though, he had taken Sir Str for quite a bit of gold at the poker table. Mental Note:
Check Horse's hooves for Aces before entering a tavern.

The past few days had been rough on Areleth, his interviews for achieving
Squire now complete. Lord Dagron had started the interviews, and he was
fairly gentle about it. One of his lines of questioning was a bit odd though.
I mean, who'd a thought when Lord Dagron asked to see his heart, he meant his
Heart!! Well Lord Dagron did put it back into his chest and heal him which was a nice
thing to do.

Arch-Mage Tuvor was next to interview him, that interview was a little
tougher. It seemed strange for him to tie Areleth to a spit over a fire and
turn him round and round. Even stranger did the interview become when Lord
Tuvor began demanding, with a crazed look in his eyes, where some strange creature
or thing called a "Jimmy Hoffa" was buried. Oh well, it's not for Pages to
judge a Knight, and Areleth did pass with only minor burns.

A week passed as he waited for the final interview. A week spent adventuring
in the Islands with Lady Nesha and Squire Gavanaxes looking for a Kraken
badge to enter the sewers with. Boy that Gavanaxes, put a Squire in front of
his name and he thinks he can outdrink ya. Why just the other day in
Westbridge Areleth had drunk more than he. Allbeit from the floor, but who's
counting. Mental Note: Research spell, Cure Hangover. Then the final
interview came.

Last but not least was Lady Sylphee, Champion of the Knights of the
Round Table. He had figured this was going to be a rough interview, but it
was not nearly as bad as the first two. She just hung him by his
feet off the rampart of the tallest tower until he would swear that it was he
who had short-sheeted her bed the night before. Of course he hadn't done any
such thing, no self respecting Page would resort to such childish pranks, but
Lady Sylphee's hands were getting sweaty and discretion is the better part of
valor. Mental note: Ask Arch-mage Tuvor if the Castle guards can see
through an invisibility spell. [Wink]

Subj: Reflections of a Squire
Date: 96-07-06 20:37:51 EDT
From: Danen1

Danen lay on his bed in the Squires quarters and reflected on the day's events. He had just completed a quest laid upon him by the Knight he served, JWoodsman. Danen was happy with the accomplishment of his mission, but that joy was dimmed by the news he received upon his return. It would seem that Lord Shumard had stepped down from his position as Chancellor. 'Ah well' thought Danen to himself, 'the changing of the Chancellor was bound to happen sooner or later in my life. But it still doesn't make it any easier. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.' Danen wiped a tear away and rolled over on his side. 'Lady Nalika will be good for the Knights though, and we shall continue to be a force for good in the Realms.'
With that upbeat thought in his mind, Danen thought once again on the mission he had just completed. JWoodsman had tasked him with taking a young charge under his wing and showing him or her some of the areas outside of Neverwinter. The only stipulations that were placed on him were that he had to choose someone who was not at all experienced and also someone who was not inherently good in nature. This last point confused Danen, but he did not question the wisdom of his patron. Later, Danen himself came to realize why this was.

Danen set out early that next morning, full of fire and vinegar. He was sure that finding a person who met the prerequisites would be fairly easy. After all, the Realms were full of bright new adventurers, not all of whom agreed with the tenets of goodliness. Danen roamed the streets of Neverwinter throughout that morning, having little or no luck in the process. It seemed that most persons of a less than wholesome outlook on life already had those who were more than willing to help promote them and give them experience in the world. Undaunted though, Danen continued to search. Danen haunted the inns that afternoon, searching and speaking to others, looking for the right cadidate. But, it was all for naught. There was more to this quest than he had originally thought!
Danen decided then to take his supper at Strider's and then continue out in the areas surrounding Neverwinter. On his way to the inn, Danen ran into Sir STR. "Well, Bro, how are you today?" STR greeted Danen. "I am well, M'Lord" replied Danen, "but I am having a bit of trouble with my quest." Sir STR smiled and said, "Aye, I remember my days as a squire well. But fear not, lad, for you shall overcome any obstacles, I am sure." Danen smiled at the encouragement and bowed, "Well, if I am to finish it, I must be on my way M'Lord. Farewell for now." Sir STR returned the bow and stood up, holding a keg, like that used for ale. Danen decided not to ask what it was, though he supposed Lady Fel would know. Sir STR gave a sly wink and walked away, whistling a lively tune. Danen then continued on to his supper at Stider's.
After his evening repast was complete, Danen headed off in the direction of the Wharves. Surely there would be someone there who required assistance! At least, Danen fervently hoped that this would be the case. As soon as he passed through the gate, Danen noticed a battle up ahead of him. A male human and a female elf were engaged in combat with a group of kobolds. Danen rushed up to them, shouting "Do ye require assistance?" The elf maiden replied "No, thanks. This trash is not difficult to handle." With that she swung her sword violently, though somewhat ineptly to Danen's trained eye, and dispatched the last standing kobold. The two then started rummaging through the pouches and packs of the vile creatures. Danen stood back and watched. Then he said "Are you not going to remove the corpses from the streets?"
"What for?" answered the elf, "let them serve as a warning to others." With that she cleaned her sword and returned it to it's scabbard. Danen looked to the human, who returned his gaze, shrugged, and continued to count the paltry sum he had collected from the bodies.

Danen sighed and started to drag the dead kobolds off to the side of the road. When that was done, he turned to the others. "I noticed that you two are somewhat new to the art of fighting. Perhaps ye would like to accompany me on a tour of the Realms? I promise you that I shall protect you and allow no harm to come to you." They both eyed Danen suspiciously, and the human asked, "What do you get out of this venture? For we have nothing to offer in return." Danen grinned and replied "I am Danen, Squire to the Knight JWoodsman, of the Knights of the Round Table. Perhaps you have heard of us?" Both replied in the negative so Danen continued, "You asked what I get out of this. Well, I get the pleasure of seeing two who are inexperienced gain in confidence and abilities. Plus, I will have made two friends this day. And that is worth more than the treasure of a thousand Dragons. The knights believe in unity and doing that which is good for the realms, not just for oneself." With that said, Danen bowed with a flourish. The two turned aside and conversed for a moment. Then they turned back and the elven woman said "We would be honored to accompany you, Sir Danen. I am called RLewis(2565) and this is my companion Blade (00z). Well met and thank you for your help." Danen smiled and said "Good. Well then, shall we proceed? I think perhaps we will go to a place called Floodblest. When I first entered in the service of KORT, a kindly knight by the name of Sir Dagron took me there and we hunted Cloud Giants. Does this meet with your approval?" Both looked at each other, then at Danen. Blade stuttered a moment then cleared his throat and said "Umm..perhaps you haven't noticed, but we are not real strong. Will it be safe for us?" Danen drew his sword, kneeled and said "I will protect thee unto my last breath. This I do swear in sight of Tyr and by my sword Glavindril" Danen rose, "Now, let us go and fear not. for ye shall be safe." They both smiled and said the human, "Lead on friend, lead on."
Danen set off at a fast pace. The two others ran to catch up. Blade asked "Why do we move so fast Danen?" "Because the morning is almost upon us." he answered, "and the giants return to their lairs during the day light hours. So, if you want to see them, we must hurry." Both chose not to reply, intent instead on saving their breath for more important matters, such as breathing. The three passed through the Floodblest gate without incident. As they made their way down the streets towards the city proper, they passed many others in battles with giant lizards and pyro snakes. At each such scene, Danen stopped and hailed the combatants. "Do ye require assistance?" He called to each. The first time, a hard pressed mage answered "Yes please. They almost have the best of me. Hurry!!!!" The three traveler's drew their weapons and charged into the fray. Danen struck the first blow, casting a spell he had memorized that would hold monsters in place, thereby making them easy to dispatch. Three of the four lizards were held, thereby allowing him to move up to the pyro snake, which was the most dangerous of the monsters. Danen prepared to strike the snake with Glavindril. Before he could do so though, Blade entered the fray and struck down one of the lizards. "Well done Blade" Danen called out "you three handle the other three lizards. I shall handle this one." With that said, Danen saw RLewis dispatch another lizard. But then his attention was brought back to the snake as it breathed fire upon him, starting Danen's clothing to smoking. Danen quickly decided to end the fight quickly when the mage shouted "I don't think that I'm going to make it out of this one." Danen flew into action again, casting a bolt of lightning at the two lizards, bringing both down with one fell swoop. Then he turned to the snake and swung Glavindril with all his might, snuffing out the fire that was the pyro snakes life.
The other three stood in place a moment, a look of awe on their faces. "Wow!" said RLewis, "maybe I should have become a mage. That was great." "Aye" replied Danen, wiping a bead of sweat from his face. "I too followed only the way of the sword. But then I saw Sir Dagron, who is a Knight-Count, Sir Caladan, KORT's ammbassador to Clan Axepeak and Lord Tuvor, the Arch-Mage of KORT, in action against beholders. They, through their actions, showed me that the combination of steel and spells is nearly unbeatable against the creatures who would rule the Realms. Perhaps you should reconsider your callings also." Blade spoke up then, saying "Well, RLewis is also a rogue in addition to being a fighter. Does that have much use in the Realms?" "All classes have their benefits, young one." Danen replied "It is how you use them that makes the difference. I am a Paladin of Tyr, who also practices the arcane arts. But it would matter not if I did not know how to best utilize my abilities. Being a thief can be useful, I suppose. But it just goes against all that I believe in and have been taught. So I can not answer, since it is out of my sphere of understanding. Come, we must hurry if we are to greet the giants." With that said, Danen bent to gather up the bodies of the slain monsters. To his delight, he saw the other two also bend down to do the same.
The trio stopped at the Rankled Boar Inn to rest and recover. Danen explained the plan he had in mind to the other two. "I am going to cast a spell on the two of you. This spell will make you invisible to the monsters that we will encounter. As long as you don't get near a monster, and don't take any offensive action against them, you should be okay. I will handle the giant and will also take care of some of the bugbears that usually accompany them. Do you both understand?" Danen paused to look both in the eye. He could sense the excitement and underlying fear that both exuded. "Remember," Danen cautioned them "A cloud giant is one of the strongest creatures to walk on two feet. One swipe of his club could remove you from this world without a trace. Do not do anything until I tell you that it is safe to do so. After I have subdued the giant, you can enter and battle the bugbears with me. Are you ready?" Both answered with an excited yes, so Danen cast a spell of invisibility on both of them. He also called down the blessing of Tyr on them, for luck. For an added measure of protection, he cast an enlarge spell on the two, giving them greater strength. Confident that they were ready, Danen set off to the well.
The last time that he was here, Danen was just a young pup, being led by Sir Dagron. How the circle had come back around, Danen thought! Once he ensured himself that the two youngsters were in position, Danen made a commotion and drew the attention of the monsters. Sure enough, there they were! Six bugbears and a Cloud Giant, smelling up the place and on the hunt. Danen quickly called to mind a spell. This one created a ball of fire. Danen cast it in the direction of the crowd of monsters. The ball grew in size until it reached the desired spot Danen wanted it. Then it exploded! Danen watched, with a bit of remorse, as the fire consumed three bugbears and did damage to the giant. Danen didn't expect the fireball to destroy the giant, but it was good to hope anyway. He then brought out the components for the next spell. Danen cast and Tyr smiled down on him! The spell held in place all four opponents that were left! "It is safe to come out now. They have all been held." Danen called out. "You two dispatch these, while I go to find out if any others still roam the area." With that said, Danen wandered off to find if any evil creatures still hunted the well. Blade and RLewis summarily dispatched the creatures and Danen then called out quietly "Over here you two. I think more are coming." This continued on until the sun came up over the horizon.
Danen viewed the area surrounding the well. It looked as if a war had been fought here! "We have done well this night" he said "these creatures will bother the citizens of Floodblest no more. Come let us burn the bodies so they do not carry disease to the surrounding areas. Any treasure you find is yours. I think you may need it to pay the swordmaster, for I feel you are ready to train now." With that said, the three gathered up the bodies and made a pyre for them. Then they set the torch to the pile and returned the creatures to ashes.
Danen escorted the two to the training hall located in Neverwinter. Both entered and came right back out. "What is the matter?" Danen asked. "We do not have enough money to continue our training." they said with downcast looks. "Heh heh..wait here." Danen said and with that ran down the street to the Neverwinter Vaults. Danen entered and withdrew 2000 platinum pieces. He returned to the training hall and gave each 1000 platinum. "That should tide you over." He said with a grin. Both looked at him dumbfounded and then RLewis said "Are all in KORT as nice and good as you?" Danen laughed and said "Nope...some are even nicer." The two young ones scurried back through the door and Danen wandered around, saying hello to those he knew in the streets. Then he went to the Inn and grabbed an ale to slake his thirst, wishing that it was a pint of Allsfaire's famous brew.
Thinking that it was time to pick up his charges again, Danen returned to the training hall. There they stood, with big smiles upon their faces. "Wow, we were told to go and test our new training, and if we felt ready, we can come back and train some more!" Blade said. "Good, let's go to wharves and see if an errant kobold or goblin feels that you are ready." Danen said and then went off with the two in tow. They went to the wharves and found a pair of kobolds who were sniffing around a pile of something that wouldn't bear investigating. The two newly trained youngsters easily slew the vile creatures and all three returned to the hall. They entered and Danen whiled away the time for them to return. When they emerged they thanked Danen profusely. Danen waved their thanks away, saying "The joy on your faces is thanks enough. How about if I show you some Dragons?" By the look on their faces, he knew that they were more than willing to go with him.
The trio made their way through the wharves, Floodblest and into Nightsedge. Danen pointed out different sights along the way. The creatures who dared to intrude upon them were easily taken care of in short order. Making their way to the city of Nightsedge, Danen told the pair "The farther away you travel from Neverwinter, the greater the danger. I will show you the city of Nightsedge. Then we will rest and I will invis you once again. The giants were child's play, considering where we go next. Dragon's are the single most dangerous creatures in the Realms, outside of Dracoliches. So be aware of what is happening and don't get close to them. Though you are both stronger now, they can still take you out with one breath!" We will be careful." they promised. Danen then showed them the Armory, Training hall, Temple and Inn of Nightsedge. While they were at the Inn, Danen gave them an option. "We do not have to go to the dragon's if you decide not to. I know of a place that is beset by ogres and orcs nearby. We can go there if you want." Both declined, so Danen invised the two and they set out. Danen stopped at the training hall and both entered. After a while, they came out. "We were able to train again!" RLewis said. "Good, you will need the help where we go." Danen softened his reply with a smile. But he needed to impress upon the two the seriousness of where they went.
After a small trek, the trio entered an area that gave off a very offensive odor. "They are home!" Danen whispered. He then cast a few spells in preparation for the upcoming battle.
"Remember, stay back and don't fight. Your time will come later to battle the evil wyrms." With that said, the three entered the lair of the Black Dragons. Danen looked about and spotted them. Two black Dragons and two White Gorgimeras. Danen quickly cast a fireball and then another. With the second fireball, a dragon and a Gorgimera went down. Blade and RLewis both watched in awe. "Are you invincible?" she said. "Quiet, or they will hear you." Danen yelled, but it was too late. A Gorgimera moved in the direction of the voices. Danen turned his back to the remaining Dragon and cast a bolt of lightning at the Gorgimera. The creature fell in a smoking heap, but Danen was covered by a stream of acid breathed out by the Black Dragon. Gritting his teeth in pain, Danen turned to face the beast. "For that, foul creature of the night, you shall pay!" So saying, Danen hefted Glavindril and moved towards the dragon. The Dragon swiped at Danen with both claws, but they were deflected by Danen's shield. The creature attempted to bite Danen, but that too, was rebuffed. With a cry of "KORT!! For the good of the Realms!!!!, Danen struck the creature two mighty blows, nearly severing it's head from it's body. Danen paused after the fight was through and realized that he had acted out of anger. He took a moment to ask Tyr's forgiveness, and then turned to the two. "Dragon's are notorious for hoarding treasure. I am sure that if you look about, you'll find some useful items." The two started searching for anything that they could find, while Danen bound his wounds. When they were done, all three set out once again for the town of Nightsedge.
On their way through the streets of Nightsedge, the trio was beset by a cockatrice and a horde of giant lizards. " 'Ware the cockatrice!" Danen shouted, "if it touches you, it can turn you to stone!" Danen then cast his last fireball that he had memorized. Unfortunately, it was not powerful enough to destroy the foul bird. But it did take down a few lizards. Danen began to get worried. The two fighters he had charge of were not powerful enough to withstand the petrification powers of the cockatrice. And if he should fall to the beasts foul powers, the two would be left defenseless. Then, rounding a corner were some hardy looking adventurers. "Hail" they called out "do you need help?" "Yes, and none too soon!" Danen said. The group entered the fray and Danen recognized the device of the Crusaders of the Realms on their shields. With so many powerful allies, the trio was soon out of danger. Danen thanked the Crusaders and they went on their way.
The trio then went back to the Nightsedge training hall. Danen said "I will go to the Inn to refresh myself. Stay here if I have not yet returned. Above all else, PLEASE! do not go wandering about. The creatures here are still too powerful for you to handle." With that, the group went off to tend to their business.
Danen returned after a short rest and found the two just emerging from the hall. "Well" said Danen, "I think we should return to Neverwinter. It was just too close of a call during that last battle. What do you two think?" They were all in agreement, so the group headed off with only a few minor incidents to pester them on the way. Although RLewis did aquire a new magical battleaxe from a battle with minotaurs.
Upon their arrival in Neverwinter, Danen stopped at his vault. He emerged with a magical suit of leather armor and gave it to RLewis. He also offered a magical halberd to Blade, but Blade declined, saying "I prefer a sword." RLewis also accepted the halberd. Danen said to both, "You have both done very well. You are now five times more experienced than when I met you. I am going to Camelot, for I have to groom JWoodsman's horse in the morning, in addition to a few other things of which I have been lax in these last few days. I will take you to wherever you wish to go."
They agreed to be escorted as far as Southwall, so Danen took them to there. The group then said their farewells. Both thanked Danen profusely, slightly embarrassing the young Squire. Danen thanked them for their company and the group split up. Danen walked the rest of the way to Camelot. Upon his arrival there, he went up to his room for some much needed rest. No one was about, and he didn't give it much thought, as it was quite late.
Danen awoke the next morning and went about his chores with a happy tune rolling through his mind. As he passed the board at the end of the day, he noticed a few new messages posted. He read the first from RLewis. Now it became clear to him why the stipulations were placed for his first quest. It not only promoted goodwill and unity, but also showed those who have traveled a dark path that those of good intentions did not hold their beliefs against them. Then Danen read the next. It was about the KORT gathering that Danen had missed, and announced to all Lord Shumard's abdication as Chancellor. Danen returned to his room, his elation somewhat dimmed.

Danen sighed and sat up in his bed, his early morning reflection completed. He rose and stretched, ready to face the day once more. JWoodsman had contacted him the night before and had tasked him with another quest. He'd better get cracking on it. If it was like the last one, it may take a while to get it started [Smile]

Hail Sir Corwin !

Please accept the following as submission to the page writing contest.

Hakar Pendera
Page of Kort
Paladin of Tyr

The Battle of Griffins Glen

Through the Lost Hills the tale unfolds
about the Battle of Griffins Glen,
evil drow attempted to block the path
and claim the hills for thier evil kin.

The hills, they belong to us, they said.
Leave now you two, there is no room.
Flee before the forces of darkness,
or you two shall find your doom.

Back to back the two lovers went
to defend against the fight.
Hakar parlayed the darkest one
who was shrouded by the night.

Like hungry wolves they circled round
the lovers, with swords drawn.
Would they live to see another day ?
Would they see the light of dawn ?

Gonesha, a mage of some repute,
sent a message back to Camelot:
Were in need of your help in Griffins Glen
or our deaths will mark this spot.

So Lord Vinman assembled those in KORT
those present in the realms,
3 Knights, 2 Squires, and Pages alike,
all donned armor, shield, and helm.

To the hills, cried Lord Vinman,
Our friends are in great need.
And if Evil wishes a fight this day,
well comply and make them bleed.

Meanwhile back within the glen,
the situation was very tense.
Now surrounded by the evil host,
Hakar worried of Neshas defense.

At least he would die with honor
defending his lady upon the field.
The Evils would offer no quarter
In turn, they would not yield.

The drow circled, testing thier defenses
engaging in a battle of wills.
Soon there would be bloodshed
in the glen within the hills.

The first one rushed on at Hakar.
The drows blades danced left and right.
The Page withstood the fury,
survived the drows dark might.

The drow suddenly stepped back,
a draw Hakar had won.
The drow said, The next one will not be so cheap,
alas, that was for fun.

With a sudden wave of his black hand,
the pack moved in for the kill.
They attacked in a frenzied state.
There was human blood to spill.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE REALMS, the cry went out,
AND THE UNITY OF ALL.
Gonesha looked up from whirling death
and rejoyced at the sight she saw.

In road three Knights upon their steeds
with Squires and Pages behind,
they road in with the chant of KORT
and formed into a line.

Sir Dagron halted the charge
he gave them one last chance.
Crawl back to your holes evil ones
and cease your deadly dance.

They scorned and mocked and cursed him
and waived theri swords about.
Lifting voices spoken in black speech,
they let forth a terrible shout.

And thus the lines of battle drawn
the combatants were engaged.
The clash of steel, the screems of men
the sounds of battle raged.

For two hours the battle raged
with loses on each side.
Together the forces of KORT fought
with courage, strength and pride.

When the final sword was struck
all present danced with glee.
We watched the fleeing evils
and celebrated victory.

Eleven of their number fell,
upon the field this day,
with five of our own number lost
in the twisting, swirling fray.

So lift your voices to the Victors,
Tyr brought justice in the end.
Thus ends this tale of valor
of the Battle of Griffins Glen.

From: Gavanaxes
To: Sir CORW1N

Stretching, Gavan yawned widely. What a night!! As was often his wont, he had been exploring the sewers. Areleth constantly ridiculed, as a friend would, his preference in frequenting this dank and dismal place.
"Squire!...you smell like the sewers," he jested.
"Page!!...nay my friend. After awhile you don't smell anything," he laughed.
The two shared a private joke regarding who would stay in their current position longer ....Areleth a page...or Gavan a squire. It was done without animosity and both knew it.
"Come to the inn Gavan," invited Areleth, "and I will drink you under the table."
Laughing delightedly he replied, "That is not possible my friend, for I am a recent graduate of the University of Str. I graduated Magnum Cum Laude majoring in excessive intake."
Both laughed so hard their sides hurt.
Eyes twinkling, Areleth asked, "Really? How long did it take?"
Still laughing, Gavan held his head and replied, "Only one night."
Both were now rolling on the floor now they were laughing so hard.

Gavan grinned again recalling that other night as they had traveled to Westbridge. Lady Nesha and Hakar had been with them. Hakar had been wearing a robe...or a kilt as he had termed it and had asked his opinion regarding whose attire was more pleasing.
Clearing his throat, Gavan had quietly stated, "No offense Hakar, but I believe there is no contest between you and Lady Nesha. I would have to say her attire is more pleasing to the eye."
"None taken my friend. I am inclined to agree with you," grinned Hakar as he looked affectionately at Lady Nesha.

In the sewers, Gavan had met, purely by chance another paladin, Brohmast, brother to Ganzelle. Greeting each other, Brohmast had invited him to join him as they fought the Holders in the southeast portion of the maze. For some reason, the area was swarming with vilstraks and cloud giants and at times, they would finish one fight and fall into another without resting or tending their wounds.
In one fight he had grinned exclaiming, "I have no more spells, we will have to do this the hard way.....the fun way...with my sword." Standing back to back, the two had hacked away at the cloud giants surrounding them.
"Light, I enjoy doing this!!" he shouted as he dispatched yet another cloud giant.
"Aye, I know what you mean," Brohmast roared back finishing the fight.
"Now to the good fight," grinned Brohmast. "Prepare yourself."
Both cast blessings on the other as well as haste. Into the fight they plunged. Three holders protected by a screen of iron golems and banshees. Brohmast pulled out his fine bow and started firing at the holders. Entering the fight, Gavan had, to his shame started to quiver in fright uncontrollably. It was all he could do to avoid indiscriminantly casting spells.
"I cannot help until I conquer this fear," he trembled.
"Don't worry about what you cannot help," replied Brohmast. Grimacing he continued, "We may be in some trouble."
Suddenly four other fighters appeared. Not much was said, but, as Brohmast quipped, "At least we will not die as quick."
Finishing the fight, they introduced themselves finding that their benefactors were from the Knights of Eternal Flame.
"Shall we do it again?" asked Brohmast.
Everyone enthusiastically nodded assent and plunged into the fight together. Over and over they fought this fight, finding treasure and scrolls and magical weapons.
"I must leave," said Brohmast.
"My pack is full," grinned Gavan. "I enjoyed it. We will have to do this again sometime."

Returning to the surface, Gavan made his way back to his room and scoured off the stench of the sewers and inspected his finds. One +3 weapon, several +2, and a cloak of displacement. He would have to find someone who needed these and distribute them. He also thought about the holder fight. He now knew how to waken the holders and he wanted to do the fight alone for that tested his abilities to the utmost. No one would be there to help him if he made a mistake.
"I will have to use my two handed sword and put aside my shield," he thought delightedly. As much as he enjoyed swinging the one handed sword, there was nothing like holding the longer two handed blade. The only reason he had used the shield was that he had been on the islands with Areleth and Lady Nesha earlier and had needed the shield. It was important to dispatch the holders as quickly as possible and he could think of nothing that caused as much damage as the two handed sword.
"I will also need to find a scroll with Dimension Door on it," he continued.
Lady Nesha had told him she had one she would give him. With that he could get quickly past the defensive screen of golems and banshees to dance with the holders. With what seemed like a good plan in his mind, Gavan lay down and fell quickly asleep.

Hail brother Corwin,

I hope all is going well....
It is in Mundania for a change. I hope to be over this little crisis in a few months, but I'll keep ye posted.
BTW...How did Skarrak take this...??
I never heard back from him..... ;>(

I hope the guild is doing well!
Save a spot for me brother...When I make it back, i'll be back with a vengance.
Muhahahahah!

The admissions policy.....All I spotted were a few typo's which I corrected (see attached). Great job on this by the way!

Oh yeah...here is that letter I sent Godd....
...................................................

Subj: Anti-Paladins of Neverwinter
To: Godd Send
Hail Godd Send!

I am pleased thy art intrested in our guild....

Here is a little info for ye....

Guild mission:

We strive to bring all the realms under evil rule!
Nasher, and all who support him will be destroyed or forced into submission.....
There will be no mercy.....no quarter given.....
All who oppose us will die.

The emphasis in ANTI will be on active PVP and {hopefully} good roleplay and comradery....

We are Knights, albiet evil ones.... Even an evil Knight would carry himself with honor.

He/She would never flee PVP...or show fear,...etc...
{Course..if your house is on fire etc...this would be overlooked..Heh!}

The rule of Law is paramount to a Knight...
Every rule put forth by a Knights Overlord or guild, must be obeyed....
under penalty of death or exile....

Retribution for an offense against a Knights person, brother/sister, or guild should be swift and cruel....

The entire guild charter is still under construction, but the above should give you an overview of life as an Anti-Paladin.

I don't know if ye have much PVP experience, but....here are brief guidelines...or, if ye will, our stance on PVP for your info...

PVP:
Always win....Heh!
If ya can't win....never whine...nothing kills a growing guild any faster than whining....
Do not Direct Dispel or Silence another player, unless those spells are directed on your person in PVP first....{please don't confuse this with a "bonus dispel," which is generally excepted through the realms.}
Do not CAD out of a fight....again, most known CAD'ers are Dised, Silenced and Feeb'd on sight....

Please < DO > Feeblemind your opponent every chance you get!!
Muhahahahah!
........................................
If ye can, give me an idea on your experience with PVP, travel in the realms, frequency in the realms and the like...

Course, we've gotta get ye maxxed before anything...
I've got Maps if ye need them as well....just let me know...I'm on most every night... ;>)
Hope to see ye soon!

Oh...I almost forgot.....Ye can take one of the empty rooms down the hall brother....welcome aboard Anti-Paladin! ;>)

Well that's all I found in my archives. Anyone else have some good stuff from the old days still stored away? Post it here, I'd love to read some more old stories.

Dear Brother Corwin:

Well now you done gone and made me cry!
What you want to do that for?

Oh man, I got a drive with 40 meg of text and images about Shumard and old kort. I did a Google search for Shumard and got nothing. We can fix this!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now a poem:
"A Winter Too Long..."
Many a fortnight have I travelled
To sit upon this rocky precipice...
I kick the ice from my boots
Watch it cascade over the edge...
The sound echoing through the canyon below
Sparkling moonlight into the abyss.
And the sparrow-hawk circles hungrily overhead...
I sit by dying embers
My thoughts drift out to thee...
Loving eyes gaze into my soul
Arms reach out my heart to hold...
Tender lips trace this weather-worn cheek
Taking away the tears.
And the sparrow-hawk circles hungrily overhead...
Why this call to traverse
So harsh a land.. so far from home...
I know not why I travail here
But forge ahead I must...
And keep in my heart a hope to be
Realized in the newborne spring.
And the sparrow-hawk cries out hungrily overhead...
As I pull my bedroll tightly
To guard against the chill...
Thy warm embrace is with me
'Tis but a longing, no more...
In truth my arms are empty... and the morn'
Shall be Herald' only by the Frost.
And the sparrow-hawk returns hungry to it's nest....
Good Lord Brother Corwin!
That is a ton of text! I swear I will defeat you in this battle. I know I logged at least 10 megabyte of pure Kort text files back in the heyday. I have at least 2 MEGAbytes of unformated text that I wrote myself.
Two MEGAbyte of unformatted text is a ton.
Only problem? I have four drives it might be on.
To retrieve it I must take each hard-drive and put in an older machine I have. Then I find the files. From there I can email them to myself and DL them on my current PC.
Doing those HD installs won't be fun.
See you in NWN!
Umm, I guess I did write this. I found it in an old NWN news letter in a websearch today. See, I am senile! And written on my birthday no less, how morbid was I?
